From the very first minutes Portchester looked like they could be trouble. They ran at the defense with the ball, but with the skill we now have in our back four in Jim, Jamie, Brad and Andrew, they were hard pushed to get the ball as far as Nozzer in goal. But they certainly had their moments. However our attack was in fighting mood as well and the skill shown by Josh S and Sam on the wings, by Joe B and Josh C in mid field really allowed Brandon and George to push forward to the goal and goals in plenty came.
After only 8 minutes a corner by Josh S allowed Brandon the simplest of headers into the goal, which he calmly put away, and 2 minutes later Josh crossed the ball and George tucked it passed the goalie. We were 2 goals up. Portchester continued to attack but this left them exposed at the back and 5 minutes after the last goal Brandon took the ball round the goalie and slotted it home, 3 -0. It only took another 5 minutes before Brandon went on the score his hat trick (again) by shooting the ball into the right hand corner of the net, 4 – 0. Not to be out done, Josh S calmly put the ball into the back of the net from a pass from the right wing. And Brandon kept on the scoring path with his 4th goal.
The score at half time 6 – 0. Wow!
Goals were slightly harder to come by in the second half as Portchester with renewed vigor continued to attack our goal, but our defense were up to each attack. With some new legs on during the second half this gave the attack, which had worked so hard in the first half new pace, and Brandon lead the way with the second half goals by scoring an easy goal from the right wing, his personal tally 4 goals now. Not to be out done Lewis on the right took advantage of a scramble in the goal and popped one passed the goalie, well done Lewis. Having got a taste of how it is done he then went on to score another 2, this time well taken from the right shooting passed the goalie. A good hat trick
By now, Nozzer was bored in goal and Brandon took over the task of guarding the goal so that Nozzer could go onto the field to play. He wanted this opportunity so that he could go and score his own goal!! Latching onto a cross from Liam on the left wing, Nozzer shot the ball passed the goalie and was able to celebrate.
The final score of 10 – 0 did not fully do justice to the playing skills of Portchester but it does show that Lee Rangers is able to take full advantage of opportunities and put goals into the net, were it all counts.
